The Rolling Stones release Hyde Park concerts as digital live album Jul 23rd 2013, 11:00

Nineteen songs from Stones' live London gigs available on iTunes for next four weeks

The Rolling Stones have released portions of their last two concerts as a digital-only live album. Hyde Park Live, drawn from the band's gigs in London on 6 and 13 July, is available on iTunes for the next four weeks.

This 19-song collection features highlights from both of the Stones' recent shows, including performances of Start Me Up, Brown Sugar and Paint It Black and the show's guest appearance from Mick Taylor, who features on their rendition of Midnight Rambler and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Even if you already have a live disc by the Stones, only eight of the tracks featured on the digital-only release appeared on their most recent concert album, 2008's Shine a Light.

About 65,000 punters paid between £95 and £299 to see the Stones each night at Hyde Park, compared to the 200,000 people who watched them for free 44 years before. Yet despite complaints about ticket prices, many fans seemed to feel that they received their money's worth: both shows garnered rave reviews. "The bank manager long ago won the battle for the heart of the Stones," wrote Michael Hann, "but their muscle memory and catalogue mean they are still a fearsome force once they're in full flow."

Meanwhile, the Stones are allegedly considering a European tour this fall. The Austrian website We Got It claims the group has booked two dates at Vienna's Stadthalle, with 12 more shows to take place in France, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands. "I'm always writing new songs, so hopefully we'll record some one of these days," Mick Jagger recently told Absolute Radio. "Maybe there will be things beyond that, but right now this is the summer and [after the UK gigs] we will ... have a bit of a break."
