Actor to team up with Laurie Metcalf in new work by Pulitzer prize-winning Bruce Norris this autumn
Jeff Goldblum and Olivier-nominee Laurie Metcalf will star in Bruce Norris's new play off-Broadway in the autumn.
Norris is best known to British audiences for his Pulitzer-winning play Clybourne Park, which played at the Royal Court in 2010 before transferring to the West End. His new play, titled Domesticated, is about a politician and his wife whose marriage hangs in the balance after a major political scandal.
The production, which will be directed by August: Osage County director Anna D Shapiro, will begin previews at the Lincoln Centre in October. Shapiro has previously directed five of Norris's other plays, including The Pain and the Itch and Purple Heart – both of which have received new productions in London.
Goldblum and Metcalf have both enjoyed recent runs on Broadway. Goldblum replaced Alan Rickman in Theresa Rebeck's Seminar at the Golden theatre last year, while Metcalf finished a run in Sharr White's The Other Place in March.
Norris, who has already seen two major London productions and a large-scale US revival this year, has already announced another world premiere for 2014. His next play, The Qualms, is about a group of friends pushed to the edge during a night of food and partner-swapping in a beachside resort. It will be produced as part of a Steppenwolf season in Chicago that also includes Nina Raine's Tribes, originally seen at the Royal Court.
